Today's post is inspired by a previous craft Kayde became involved in last winter. Having learned about cathedral window style quilts I oohed and awed appropriately until the perfect opportunity crossed my path. As a consultant for a new quilting company called My Lazy Daisy I became involved in a sewing design contest to create a new item using the companies various fabric collections. After much debate I finally decided upon using the Retro Rally collection and decided that these prints created the perfect 'window to the past.'
After using this tutorial from Hyena-in-petticoats I was able to watch two movies while ironing countless 10'' squares, burn a few fingers, scratch my head a few times, and eventually create this:
Now you might not be jumping up and down after all of that, but I sure was. I distinctly remember running down the hall at my parents house to show off my newly finished project. Imagine my shock and horror as my father states, "your corners don't match," followed quickly by my younger brother, "shouldn't a table runner come to a point and have tassels?" MEN. My theory is who cares? I love it and actually now I think I want to make a throw quilt? What do you think?
