Cathedral Windows

As described above this site is dedicated to two chicks and some food...what we forgot to put into the title (and truthfully ran out of space for) was....some crafts, some stories, and who knows what else.  We are two friends who share a love for the tasty, the mundane, the exciting, and the silly.  Hilary as a single carefree woman brings her years of foodie experience as well as specialized training as a cheftess to the table.  Kayde on the other hand has little to no official training but brings years of experience from the food industry and a love for crafts-most especially those found on Pinterest.  We hope that our off brand styles might amuse and interest you so please do not get bored if one of us at time can ramble on.

Today's post is inspired by a previous craft Kayde became involved in last winter.  Having learned about cathedral window style quilts I oohed and awed appropriately until the perfect opportunity crossed my path.  As a consultant for a new quilting company called My Lazy Daisy I became involved in a sewing design contest to create a new item using the companies various fabric collections.  After much debate I finally decided upon using the Retro Rally collection and decided that these prints created the perfect 'window to the past.'

After using this tutorial from Hyena-in-petticoats I was able to watch two movies while ironing countless 10'' squares, burn a few fingers, scratch my head a few times, and eventually create this:

Now you might not be jumping up and down after all of that, but I sure was.  I distinctly remember running down the hall at my parents house to show off my newly finished project.  Imagine my shock and horror as my father states, "your corners don't match,"  followed quickly by my younger brother, "shouldn't a table runner come to a point and have tassels?"  MEN.  My theory is who cares?  I love it and actually now I think I want to make a throw quilt?  What do you think?

New Beginnings

(Note: Intro better if read in a British accent.)
"Once upon time there were two friends that decided to go on a Culinary Adventure. Many before them had attempted such a Quest. Few had succeeded. Most just got lost in the Sea of Mundane. But this did not daunt them, for their hearts were pure, and filled with a love of all things crafty! Enter in our heroines, Hilary, Chef-tess in training and a true Foodie, and wise Kayde, a Sage who took upon her The Vow Domestic Housewife. Both brought together by the Forces of Good to share their unquenchable love of creativity with all tangible and edible.  While some may not understand this driving force in their lives saying 'nay!' to the naysers and raining down a glittery, modge podge, tasty conundrum upon their derpy heads. COME! And join us on our righteous quest against The Drab, and The Deary. They that cloud path to Victory."
